Now that the election to the 15th Lok Sabha is over, and the new government has settled down, it is time once again to review the democratic process, and consider ways of improving governance. We believe in the democratic process, and good governance is our common objective. To deliberate on these issues, a seminar has been organized by the Delhi based Liberty Institute and the Centre for Contemporary Studies and Research, Lucknow, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann – Stiftung fur die Freiheit, on July 21, 2009.

We hope the discussions will lead to a plan of action towards making democracy more meaningful, and suggest ways of nurturing good governance mechanisms. The participants include political activists, media persons, professionals and civil society representatives. This is also an opportunity to introduce the Liberty Institute’s initiative on democracy at www.EmpoweringIndia.org

We warmly invite all those who are interested in civic engagement and democratic participation to join this discussion. Your participation will greatly contribute to enriching the deliberations.
